In the last 48 hours a man wielding a knife went on the rampage killing a Japanese national and injuring two men with an iron bar in Dundalk County Louth. He was from Egypt and authorities have said that he may have been a turned down asylum seeker in the Uk and then hopped on a ferry or came through Belfast and came in by that route. Gardai have said that it doesn't appear to be terrorist related. A lone wolf, using a knife, killing innocent people and has the hallmarks of an Islamic extremist but it's not terrorism. This sounds like the what the Metropolitan police would say. They would actually give no details about the perpetrators origin and would say he appeared to have mental health issues or say he was ''Asian'', This is why I don't believe authorities who spew out this rhetoric so as not to appear ''Islamaphobic'' but the more the Gardai and their UK counterparts behave in this deceitful manner the more the citizens of Ireland and the UK will feel fed up and completely let down.
I have felt for a very long time now that Ireland is a sitting duck for Islamic extremists and that we are a hub for terror in mainland Europe. Gardai are watching individuals here that remain on the radar and who potentially could strike at any time. The terror threat here is at Moderate and that does not make me feel safe. So when I see an 18 yr old Egyptian man who was being turned down on asylum in the Uk and somehow managed to come to Dundalk, that makes me very worried and concerned at how easy it is to get pass border control. We need to control our borders and allow only persons from foreign countries in who can offer basic English, they will integrate into our society and completely understand the values and culture we have and to offer a skill of some kind. Otherwise what use am I if I go to Egypt with no understanding of Urdu, no understanding of Islamic culture and I have no skills to offer Egypt.
I know countries are taking in migrants but Hungary and Poland have taken in zero and they have no attacks like these. Arab countries need to take in the migrants because they are on the doorstep of Syria, Afghanastan and Lybia. We know that our social welfare system is very attractive to citizens of other countries. Why else would you travel 10,000 miles to get to Ireland. I completely understand a refugee crisis, but watching young men flood Europe and seeing some of these men attack European women is disturbing. A refugee crisis is women and children not all men.
Unfortunately we will see more attacks like the one in Dundalk yesterday unless we kick out known trouble makers and don't allow undesirables in. I may as well be talking to the wall as to suggest Leo Varadkar will actually take on board what I am saying but I do have a little bit of hope when I see him meeting Viktor Urban the Hungarian Prime Minister recently. Thought's and prayers to the Japanese family of the deceased. He came here for a better life to work in a call center and clearly integrated where the murderer from Egypt was an angry asylum seeker who clearly hated and detested our society and chose to take his fury out on us. Close the border and keep us safe and kick out any potential jihad suspects.
Can I firstly say that I have heard the audio of George Hooks rape comments. And like most people I found them very upsetting and I am sure the Rape Crisis Centre were shocked at how brash he made those remarks. The thought of any man or woman as being easy prey and deserving of a rape is dinosaur talk. People can go out and get plastered drunk and take drugs and then collapse in a mess on the floor but it does not mean they are consenting to sexual activity. Would they be better not taking drugs and not taking drink? Yes of course and maybe it would limit their chance of letting their guard down but to say they some how deserve it is very wrong.
While on a recent trip to the Bank in Dundrum, I noticed a sign that said ''Counter staff only operating 9.30am-12.30pm'' and I wondered why I couldn't see a member of staff regarding a lodgment. I asked someone at the counter and they ordered me to a ATM machine that could sort my query. Later that day I stopped off at MC Donalds to get a big mac and I noticed that their was only one staff member at the counter. She ushered me off to one of the 6 machines that could take my order and I could pay by Debit Card. Needless to say it got me thinking about why I believe the human race is being replaced by automation and why we as a people need to figure out what the hell we are going to be doing in the future and what our purpose will be.
Automation is the use of various control systems for operating equipment such as machinery, processes in factories, boilers and heat treating ovens, switching on telephone networks, steering and stabilization of ships, aircraft and other applications and vehicles with minimal or reduced human intervention, with some processes have been completely automated. Even Televisions and Radio Stations are being forced down the route of Automation.
Technology is advancing every second of the day and while most of us are oblivious to the real consequences of this change, the real fear is that we won't have any say in how it all pans out. It is not beyond the realms of possibility that if mankind finds a planet that is habitable that if may be an answer to the problem. Human nature refers to the distinguishing characteristics—including ways of thinking, feeling, and acting—which humans tend to have naturally. If this becomes extinct because machines take over then we have a massive decision. Do we move away and start over? or do we stay and face the consequences???
The decision is not yours but you will be part of the experiment.
Oh how times are a changing, I remember winning my first medal in October 1986 after winning the U17 boys singles in the Silvermints tournament in Dalkey. I was also runner up in the U14 boys singles. There was 3 medals for first, seecond and third. If you failed to reach the last 3 then that was your problem. Life is setting you up for the knocks and the falls that you will receive, and by god you will get big disappointments, you will aslo get joy and success. The three medal winners trained harder and deserved the medal. The others needed to try harder or find something they can excel at.
At a recent event I was attending I asked the teacher who was organising the competition about what prizes she had for the winners. I asked her was the there a first, second and third and to quote a lyric from a famous Hot Chocolate song ''Everyone's a winner'' She said Everyone gets a medal. I wanted to say something but could see the joy in her face and I didn't want to ruin her day. I waited until the following week to drop the bomb and come clean about how I felt about all children receiving a medal and how that can impact on there lives in later years.
She completely understood my point of view but I could see that she was going to continue down that path. If many teachers and youth leaders start this pointless and dangerous exercise then we will have a whole load of kids growing up butt hurt and very angry because they are not winning in life.
Remember, give a trophy to the winner. Show the other kids that there can be only one. How about we give Roger Federer the trophy and give everyone else a medal for taking part. This is the kind of nonsense that will destroy the next generation.
Trevor Deely was an ordinary 22 year old man, who had a steady job in the bank and had many friends at the time of his out of character disappearance. I worked in Percy Place at the time of his disappearance in December 2000. I always remember the seedy area just at the back of the building where I worked which was a haven for Prostitutes. Smyth's pub was a local hangout for staff in my office and we would often walk past the girls of the night who would try to proposition us. It was a lonely area and very cut off from the hustle and bustle of Baggot Street.
Since 2000 many theories have emerged about what had happened to Trevor. Did he fall into the canal close by. Did he change his name and jet off to South America to get away from Ireland and start over. I remember being very vocal in my office at the time of his vanishing. During the period of 2000, we had seen many young women disappear in the 90's including Jo Jo Dullard, Fiona Pender, Deirdre Jacob and Annie McCarrick and to be fair it had crossed my mind did one of these missing women have a similar experience connected to Trevor.
My gut feeling was that the man seen talking to Trevor outside the Bank Of Ireland on the night of his disappearance is the man responsible for Trevor's vanishing. My theory is that man was collecting a debt from Trevor for something that Trevor had acquired from that man or associates of that individual. The man turned up outside that building because he must have known Trevor worked there and was asking him do you have my money. The boss is getting upset and needs his cash. Trevor didn't have the means at that time to repay the man and after a few warnings had got impatient and decided to deal with Trevor in a more aggressive way.
This theory by the way is pure speculation but having watched the evidence on TV documentaries, having seen the guy in the grainy image on CCTV and taking into account that Trevor just vanished, the only reasonable conclusion is that Trevor met his end in a very unpleasant manner. The area where he vanished was crawling with Pimps, Prostitutes and drug dealers. I also remember cocaine was rampant and that many people were taking it. The drug has to come from somewhere and someone has to pay for it. I am not suggesting Trevor had a drug habit but it is a theory that must have been examined by Gardai. In the last few hours Gardai have been digging up an area of land in Chapelizod, West Dublin and following a tip off from an individual who said that Trevor had an interaction with top Dublin Criminal who was operating in that locality at the time.
To this day I still see photos of Trevor attached to lamp posts on Haddington Rd and Baggot St. I wish Trevor's family have closure soon and that this case is not a cold case anymore and that it is eventually solved.
I am scared, really scared. I have been watching events unfold since the disgusting Islamic Terror attacks in Manchester and London. What has struck me is the total lack of Government motivation to tackle and deal with Muslim Extremists living in our communities wanting to slaughter the infidels. There are a number of reasons why these nut jobs are being filled with hate and are looking to cause as much harm to us. One main issue are the wars the USA and UK have conducted in Arab countries which have destabilized them and made the locals begin to loathe Europeans. I have said before on here that Arab countries need to intervene in other Arab dictatorships and that USA and UK should back off. Hate preachers in some Mosques need to be investigated to. All these terrorists can not just be radicalised online.
In recent years I have begun to notice the massive globalisation around the world and the one state political system that some political leaders and institutions are trying to implement. The free movement of people from country to another and the ease at which this is possible. This has undoubtedly had a knock on effect in our sporting circles and particularly when it comes to National Championships. I played in the Irish Table Tennis National Championships for 25 years, and during that period it was kept to players who had Irish passports and who played for one of the four provinces.
That started to change in the noughties when the authorities allowed players who were living here for at least 6 years and who could prove that they are domiciled here. I have always thought that athletes who do not have an Irish passport should not be allowed to play in the National Championships of any sport. They are welcome to enter the Irish Open, Connaught Open, Leinster Open and so on. Otherwise call the even the Irish Open and let everyone play.
Many sports have taken advantage of getting athletes from elite level, a passport or citizenship process speeded up so they can play for that country. This has been apparent in the Premier League. The argument from people who agree with allowing elite athletes from any country play because they will improve performance. They can improve performance in the other events and play in there homeland National Championships. I certainly would not expect to be playing in the Hungarian, French or German National Championships without a passport from that country. Living there for 6 years should not be a reason to let them play in the event. If you cannot vote in National Elections then you should not be allowed play the National Championships.

I would firstly like to start by wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. In recent years it has been quite a challenge sourcing Merry Christmas Cards. For a while I was naive in not really understanding why ''Seasons Greetings'' was the most popular in card shops and why I couldn't get my hands on Happy Christmas cards and then it struck me, It's offensive to people of non Christian faith. Yes, we have become a nation and a Europe of political correctness and over the top pandering to people who we welcome here with open arms. We don't enforce our beliefs, our culture, our customs and our beautiful way of life but yet accept there extreme customs. We have become a very tolerant society and compliant with whatever governments expect of us.
In many other societies I am expected to follow custom, to respect the laws and the culture and I do so and I expect the same when someone visits my homeland. In the late noughties I visited the United Arab Emirates and stayed beside the Burj Al Arab hotel ( not in my budget). I remember taking a sip of cool water in the 41 degree heat and being touched on the arm by a local stranger who insisted I put my bottle of water away and to stop insulting his culture. Yes this did actually happen during Ramadan and yes I put the water away. But after the incident I thought hang on here, I am a tourist, I was not aware of Ramadan and isn't it a little over the top to request that I stop drinking water in dead heat at 12pm in a Dubai afternoon?
Recently at the entrance to a bank in Dublin City Centre I witnessed a courier being asked to remove his helmet to enter the bank which is common practice here. Then momentarily I also saw a woman in a Burka with two slits in the eyes walking past the same security man with no bother getting in. For me this is nonsense and totally unaceptable. They both have there faces covered and should be both asked to remove there face covers. It is situations like this that really get under the skin of some people. Europe has been spiralling out of control for sometime now. Merkel with her open border policies. 1 Million migrants being let in to Germany, Sweden losing its grip on the migrant crisis there and immigration at the top of most peoples concerns. Approximately 960,000 thousand migrants coming from war torn Syria entered Germany over the last year. 33,000 have sought employment and the others are on benefit. The recent terrorist attack in Berlin where a fanatical Jihad stole a truck and killed its driver and then drove the truck into a crowd of people was from Tunisia. The last time I checked, Tunisia was not at war. This attacker was let roam freely around Europe with a gun and it took German authorities 4 days to find him in ...wait for it......Italy.
I have become very interested in this failed EU project of flooding Europe with low paid migrants, carrying on like terrorism is the new norm. You hear the term ''Foiled plot'' mentioned in the mainstream media. You will be called ''Xenophobic'' or ''Racist'' if you have a passion to help Europe from falling into the wrong hands. These Jihadists want Europe more than us at present and whoever wants it most will win. This is a war and unless you get your head out of the sand and do something to help Europe survive, whether it be talking passionately with your friends and family, tweeting or facebook and show some back bone of why they should be worried, then we will lose to those lunatics and they will come here with the caliphate.
Merkel has to go now, as we need real leadership. Obama, Cameron and Merkel have been 3 of the weakest leaders I can certainly remember in my lifetime and although I go about my own business, working to pay the mortgage and having a pleasant life, I am worried about where we are all going in this doomed EU project. It has been so encouraging to see online other passionate and concerned individuals thinking about how to survive the onslaught of these weak leaders and Islamic State and there medieval butchery.
Trump, Farage & Le Pen will all help to defeat the terrorists, tighten borders and force Arab states to take in refugees because to this day they have not taken in many and possibly none. They have sent aid but that is not enough. Why should we have to be burdened with millions of migrants. I am all for helping genuine war survivors and the Aleppo scenes are dreadful but Arab states should be taking in more. Who and why did someone in power give these orders? But some leftist Europeans are tolerant, compliant with whatever happens, instead of asking why?
We must fight to save our Europe, We had the Franco Prussian war, WW1 & WW2 and if we don't do something soon we will be in a bigger mess than now and who knows what we may face. DO SOMETHING!
I recently conducted a survey of 20 people I know who are from different political backgrounds and asked them if there was a referendum on Ireland staying or leaving the E.U. How would you vote? 13 said they would leave and 7 said they would stay. I really do wonder about how out of touch our European leaders really are. They are so enclosed in there bubble in Brussels that they and Mr Juncker never saw Brexit coming or Trump winning in a landslide. I have spoken here many times about how important it is that we implement ''Closed Borders'' and remain vigilant that undesirables are not entering our countries without knowledge of who they are or what they intend to do here when they settle. I welcome people from other countries who have a decent knowledge of the English language and who offer us a skill for employment purposes.
Because of the wars in recent times carried out illegally by the USA, we have been left having to deal with a migrant crisis at a scale we have not seen in a long time. All these migrants deserve better leaders and a lifestyle like our own. However Arab countries surrounding Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan seem reluctant to take the refugees in to there countries. Flooding Europe is not the answer and never was. I honestly do not know what Hollande and Merkel were thinking when they made that decision. My first reaction would be empathy to the refugees and a phone call to Jordan, UAE, IRAN and other Arab states like Saudi Arabia to help out. And if they don't want to assist then they must not expect to be treated with any respect at the U.N. This pussy footing around by foreign leaders has lead us to this disaster. This is why we are seeing a growing discontent amongst the electorate in Europe. A growing disconnect between Government and the people it is supposed to be serving.
And this leads me on to France. A country which represents freedom and culture. France doesn't just have different cultures; the word "culture" actually comes from France. I remember watching a television show on TV5 back in the nineties and it was called ''40 degree a'lombre'' or ''Forty degrees in the shade''. The show was so French and it was only on during the summer and was a roadshow which was broadcast weekly at a beach in the south of France. Girls were parading around in skimpy bikinis and men were topless and in there Baywatch shorts. This culture belonged to them and they were comfortable living in this environment. The ban on the burka has lead the French citizens to division. A division of culture and beliefs! A society which tries to mesh all cultures together and to carry on like everything is pleasant when in fact everything is not ok. Other cultures who strongly favour women being covered up, who believe women are second class, who oppress women in there own countries have now settled in France and other European countries. It is clear that these cultures don't work well together. We all want it to work but it is failing and failing fast. I love the idea of all of us from different nations and cultures living together. This in theory is how it should work. But in reality mes ami this is not the case. People who come from others countries are now living in Ghettos and this in turn can become segregation and separate everyone.
Because of the regressive left we on the right have become fearful of mentioning ''Closed Borders'' they call us racists and bigots. If we have an opinion we are Ostracized from the debate. Society is changing and the Right and Alt Right have been quietly increasing support. Le Pen will be close to becoming President and should she succeed you will see a changing of the guard and the E.U. collapsing. It wil collapse like a tall building receiving a wrecking ball. I would love for each country in the EU to go back to when we all traded together, we all visited each other on holidays, we all had our own currency and retained our sovereignty. In the UK, 70% of it's laws are made outside of Great Britain. This must and has to stop.
