Last night's destruction of Chelsea FC at White Hart Lane was a dream come true for real Spurs fans who have had their fair share of ups and downs in the last few years with managers coming and going. Not only have managers been axed in recent years but players have been brought in to replace the hugely successful Gareth Bale (Real Madrid). €100 Million Euro was spent on the sale of Bale during last summer. The players who were singled out to replace Bale's skill and goal tally were Soldado, Lamela, Paulinho and Bentalab. Lamela has began to show some sort of decent form of late but nothing close to his price tag. The rest have been a huge disappointment.
Chelsea's 5-3 defeat at the Lane was not just down to Mourinho's men being poor in defence but a Spurs team who have improved mentally and seem to be able to fight right down to the last second. Previous Spurs sides would have capitulated under the pressure of the first goal set up by Eden Hazard and scored by Oscar. This side is different in every way. 5 academy players were on the pitch yesterday for Spurs and 3 of them scored & that means that the Spurs Academy is doing its job by producing English talent instead of buying in from abroad. Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend all came from the Spurs Academy and Spurs Manager Pochettino said “For us, it’s very important to develop our young talent because we have an unbelievable academy and training ground, and we need to profit from it,”
Harry Kane has been growing into a World Class Player and doing it in style. I can just see Carlo Ancelloti sending out the Real scouts to watch him at the Lane in 2015. It's not the goals that have impressed me, however it's the attitude and work rate that have amazed me. He stays after training to practice 25 yard volleys and spot kicks. So although he has the talent and ability, its the 10,000 hours of practice that Harry is putting in is what is paying off.
Spurs have the semi of the Carling Cup/League Cup to come soon in January and a top 4 finish in their sights. In May we will find out if this has been a step in the right direction.
