While on a recent trip to the Bank in Dundrum, I noticed a sign that said ''Counter staff only operating 9.30am-12.30pm'' and I wondered why I couldn't see a member of staff regarding a lodgment. I asked someone at the counter and they ordered me to a ATM machine that could sort my query. Later that day I stopped off at MC Donalds to get a big mac and I noticed that their was only one staff member at the counter. She ushered me off to one of the 6 machines that could take my order and I could pay by Debit Card. Needless to say it got me thinking about why I believe the human race is being replaced by automation and why we as a people need to figure out what the hell we are going to be doing in the future and what our purpose will be.
Automation is the use of various control systems for operating equipment such as machinery, processes in factories, boilers and heat treating ovens, switching on telephone networks, steering and stabilization of ships, aircraft and other applications and vehicles with minimal or reduced human intervention, with some processes have been completely automated. Even Televisions and Radio Stations are being forced down the route of Automation.
Technology is advancing every second of the day and while most of us are oblivious to the real consequences of this change, the real fear is that we won't have any say in how it all pans out. It is not beyond the realms of possibility that if mankind finds a planet that is habitable that if may be an answer to the problem. Human nature refers to the distinguishing characteristics—including ways of thinking, feeling, and acting—which humans tend to have naturally. If this becomes extinct because machines take over then we have a massive decision. Do we move away and start over? or do we stay and face the consequences???
The decision is not yours but you will be part of the experiment.
